The Oakbrook Terrace Fire Protection District strongly encourages all persons to secure formalized training in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).  This life saving technique, coupled with the use of A.E.D.'s ( automatic external defibrillators) greatly enhances the chances of survivability for those individuals suffering a heart attack.    These courses are typically offered in the evening contingent of personal need.  Additionally, these courses are designed to address the needs of first responders, emergency care providers and the general public.  These courses include training in the following: 
   

Basic CPR techniques
Rescue Breathing techniques
The Heimlich maneuver (choking victim)
Basic First Aid
